Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision study
This page provides details of the aids to study and the forms of
study available. You are advised to begin studying in September for the April
examinations the following year and in May for the October examinations.
Under the banner “Shaping the Pensions Professionals of Tomorrow” PMI is very pleased to be working with leading companies operating in managing or advising UK pension schemes to offer an enhanced study support service for Students undertaking the Advanced Diploma examinations.

Each company has taken on the role of study support partner for one module of the qualification. Details of the organisation and authors are found at the start of each study manual.
Study Material Packages
PMI produces a study material
package for each module for the
April and October examinations. The package consists of
a study manual and access to a web based distance learning
course, which includes a series of assignments, mock
examinations, tutorial facilities and feedback from a tutor.
The course for April examinations begins in September and
finishes in March. The course for the October examinations
begins in May and ends in September. In order to gain
maximum benefit from the assignments course a planned
method of study should be followed with completed
assignments being submitted regularly.
These materials are updated annually.
A Study Material Order Form is sent automatically to registered Students and can
be downloaded from the Forms page.
Study Materials for 2008 Examinations
Revised and updated materials for 2008 are now available. An order form can be found in the

Study timetable Students undertaking the distance learning
elements of the study material packages are provided with a
recommended study timetable. This is for guidance only and sets out a suggested
timetable to ensure sufficient time is devoted to study of the material,
completion of assignments and allowing time for revision.

Transitional Arrangement Assignments
The transitional arrangement assignments apply to those
translating credits between the A-J syllabus and the current 100, 200 and
300 level syllabus.
The investment and administration based assignments will
be available for 3 years from late November 2005. After this time these
arrangements will expire and the requirement would be to sit the relevant
examination.
The assignments comprise of the relevant parts of a study manual and a
number of test questions which must be submitted to the Institute. They will
not have to be completed under examination conditions. There are several
submission dates each year and if the required pass standard is not reached
then they can be re-submitted.
The order form for these assignments can be downloaded from the forms
page. The assignments will include details of the submission dates and
procedure. The assignments are updated each year. The last date for
submitting assignments in 2008 is 28 November 2008. These submission
dates are shown below.

Colourboxx scheme
| The study material should be used in conjunction with the information provided
concerning the Colourboxx scheme.
Colourboxx is a fictional scheme used to provide examples and is
referred to in some parts of the distance learning material.
It is not used the examinations.

Revision courses
Revision courses are held in central London about a month before the April and
October examinations.
The courses consist generally of half day sessions, each
session being devoted to one examination Module. They also give Students the
opportunity to raise specific questions or difficulties with the lecturer.
Booking forms are sent automatically to registered Students
and are available to download from the Forms page prior to the courses.
Some of the Institute's Regional Groups also offer revision
courses prior to the examinations.
