Independent Pension Trustee Group (IPTG)

In late 2003 independent Trustees joined together under the auspices of PMI to form the Independent Pension Trustee Group (IPTG).

Membership of the IPTG is on an individual basis and is open to all who operate as Independent Pension Trustees and agree to abide by the Code of Guidance. Once signed up, members are then part of a network which offers discussion forums, regular mailings, (including electronic copies of PMI News each month) and support. All members of the IPTG can choose to appear in the publicly available IPTG Independent Trustee Register and also have access to a dedicated series of workshops.

The elected Committee members are: Susan Andrews (chair), Nigel Hill, Rodney Jagelman, Joanna Matthews, Maralyn Thomas and Peter Thompson and the PMI representative is Roger Cobley.

Nearly 150 independent trustees are now members of the Group. If you know of someone who would be interested in joining the IPTG please draw this website to their attention.

Please note that the cheque for membership is free of VAT and must be made payable to The Pensions Management Institute.

The annual subscription for membership is £160 pa for each Independent Pension Trustee. If a firm comprises more than three Independent Pension Trustees the first three pay £160 pa each and subsequent Independent Pension Trustees in the same firm pay £80 pa each.

Subscriptions are renewable in January each year.

Code of guidance

The Code of Guidance sets out some of the broad principles that are expected of Independent Pension Trustees. The current (fourth) edition, revised 2009, can be downloaded below.
