Retirement Provision

The aim of the Retirement Provision stream is to provide the required professional knowledge, skills and understanding for an individual to undertake, after sufficient experience, a position as a pensions specialist. The position would most likely be within a self-administered scheme, a third party administrator, a life assurance company or the consulting and advisory services.

Technical Pensions Administration

The aim of the Pensions Administration (TECHNICAL) stream is to provide the required professional knowledge, skills and understanding for an individual to undertake, after sufficient experience, a position as a pensions specialist. Pensions and other employee Benefits stream

The aim of the Pensions Benefits stream is to provide for those working at the margins of pensions, who need to understand pensions in the wider savings and employee benefits context and develop an understanding of the trends in global employee benefit provision; the required professional knowledge, skills and understanding for an individual to undertake to become a qualified benefits practitioner.

Practical Pensions Administration

The aim of the Pensions Administration (PRACTICAL) stream is to provide the required professional knowledge, skills and understanding for an individual to undertake the role of a Pensions Administrator. The Pensions Administrator would represent the customer or stakeholder whilst focusing on delivering a quality service at all times.

Level 5
Diploma in Pension Trusteeship

The Diploma in Pension Trusteeship is a new, standalone award, designed to show judgement when dealing with complex pensions issues, above and beyond technical knowledge.

The aim of this qualification is to increase professionalism further and highlight the distinction between Lay/Member nominated trustees and Professional trustees qualified at the same level. The Diploma is the PMI’s first qualification to integrate ESG into its course material, making it a markedly more advanced qualification’

Level 2
Award in Pensions Essentials

The Award in Pensions Essentials is a qualification designed to support and acknowledge the training and development of new pensions administrators or those who need an introduction to pensions, HR or Payroll.

Level 3
Award in Pension Trusteeship

The Award in Pension Trusteeship is a qualification for Trustees or those interested in Trusteeship, based on The Pensions Regulator’s indicative syllabus. It provides formal recognition of a Trustee’s knowledge and understanding (TKU) in line with the requirements of the Pensions Act 2004.

The APT is otherwise known as CPT unit 1.

From 2021, we will be holding 'Private Sittings of the APT (CPT unit 1) exams which will take place online only. If you would like to hold a 'private sitting' please contact James Cumine directly to enquire about availability. 

Private sittings can hold no less than 10 individuals and at least 4 weeks notice must be given so that we can try and hold the exam on your chosen date. 

Level 3
Certificate in Pension Trusteeship

The Certificate in Pension Trusteeship will give those wishing to become Accredited Trustees the necessary qualification to prove their knowledge and their application of this knowledge, in their role as an Accredited Trustee.

Certificate in Pensions Essentials

The Certificate in Pensions Essentials is a qualification designed to support the training and development of pensions administrators and other pensions professionals as part of a career development path.

Level 3
Certificate in Pensions Administration

The Certificate in Pensions Administration is suitable for pension scheme administrators working on Defined Benifit (DB) or Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes. The qualification is designed to allow organisations and their pensions administrators to select and construct a competence-based qualification that reflects their normal working activities.

Level 4
Certificate in Pensions Calculations

The Certificate in Pensions Calculations (CPC) is a qualification for pensions administrators designed to demonstrate competence in the manual calculation of benefits of occupational pension schemes.

Level 4
Retirement Provision Certificate

The Retirement Provision Certificate is ideal for employees new to pensions, support staff and those professionals working in related fields. It provides a broad introduction to pensions and other related benefits in the UK.

Level 4
Certificate in Pension Scheme Member Guidance

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of pensions staff who regularly liaise with members selecting options from a pension scheme. This qualification is concerned with improving member outcomes and providing guidance on benefit options. As this guidance is in the area of non-regulated advice the qualification provides an overview of the distinction between regulated and non-regulated advice, the different types of pension scheme and the factors that need to be considered in making decisions in regard to benefits. It covers various options and situations, including: joining, leaving, transferring, retirements, commutation, death, and divorce.

Diploma in Employee Benefits and Retirement Savings

This qualification aims to provide holders with a comprehensive background to employee benefits and savings in the UK. It demonstrates that the holder has an in depth understanding of issues surrounding retirement provision. This will equip them for work in pensions and allied areas and can lead to further study in these areas or toward completion of the Advanced Diploma.

Please note that the ADRP qualification will cease to exist in it's current format from April 2028 meaning all existing or new learners would only have five years to complete this qualification from 2023. 

We encourage learners to consider the Retirement Provision Pathway ,which is very similar to the units that encompass the ADRP qualification. The level of the qualification and member benefits remains the same as the ADRP qualification . Learners can achieve the APMI membership upon successful completion of this pathway.

Diploma
Diploma in International Employee Benefits

The Diploma in International Employee Benefits, delivered in partnership with the International Employee Benefits Association (IEBA),  provides a programme of education, study and examinations for all those involved with the complex area of international employee benefits. The qualification aim is to identify aspects of benefit provision which those involved in international employee benefits are most likely to encounter in dealing with expatriates, internationally mobile employees and local employees.

Diploma in Pensions Administration

The Diploma in Pensions Administration is suitable for senior pension scheme administrators working on DB or DC pension schemes. The qualification is designed to allow organisations and their pensions administrators to select and construct a competence based qualification that reflects their normal working activities.

Diploma
Diploma in Retirement Provision

This qualification rewards and acknowledges the completion of core pension technical units that form part of the Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision. This can be taken as a standalone qualification or as part of the Advanced Diploma.

Please note that the ADRP qualification will cease to exist in it's current format from April 2028 meaning all existing or new learners would only have five years to complete this qualification from 2023.

Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision

The aim of the Advanced Diploma is to provide the required professional knowledge, skills and understanding for an individual to undertake, after sufficient experience, a position as a pensions specialist within a self-administered scheme, a third party administrator, a life assurance company or the consulting and advisory services.

Pensions Administration and Practice (Nigeria)

The three stages are progressive (i.e. one has to be completed before moving to the next) and are:

Stage 1: Level 3 Award in Pensions Administration and Practice (Nigeria) (APAP)

Stage 2: Level 4 Certificate in Pensions Administration and Practice (Nigeria) (CPAP)

Stage 3: Level 5 Diploma Pensions Diploma in Administration and Practice (Nigeria) (DPAP)
