Membership by experience

This membership is open to senior professionals who do not have any PMI qualifications but can successfully demonstrate their professional competence and have a minimum of 10 years pensions related specialist knowledge. All qualified members are entitled to use the designatory initials EPMI.

Eligibility and requirements

Locate

Available to appropriately qualified and experienced individuals who do not have the Institute’s own qualifications but would like to gain PMI membership.

It is essential that applicants have a minimum of 10 years pensions related specialist knowledge and experience and applicants’ roles should be readily recognised by pensions practitioners.

All candidates are required to submit the following:

1. CV outlining the relevant experience and Supporting Statement demonstrating how they meet the criteria (500-1000 words). Applicants must show that they have experience across a broad range of topics which may include in one or more of the following areas or in-depth knowledge in one or more:

  • Employee Benefits
  • Pensions Actuarial
  • Pensions Audit
  • Pensions Communication
  • Pensions Law
  • Pensions Management Retirement
  • Benefits
  • Pensions Policy

2. Provide evidence of their contributions to the industry (500-1000 words).

3. Two references from active FPMI members (with a minimum of 5-year membership) and/or references from the applicant’s previous and current employer (minimum two employers).

You will need to provide the full names and email addresses of your chosen references who the PMI will contact.

The membership runs on a rolling renewal basis for a 12-month period that starts from the date we approve your application.
