PMI Level 3 Certificate in Pensions Essentials

The Certificate in Pensions Essentials  is a qualification designed to support the training and development of pensions administrators and other pensions professionals as part of a career development path.

It is essentially a knowledge based qualification although there are some calculations of benefits in some units. The CPE extends the range and depth of knowledge offered under the Level 2 Award in Pensions Essentials qualification.

Delivery and assessment of the qualification is carried out in-house (PMI Approved Centre) on a 'when needed' basis. The units all provide a platform for training and development of employees.

This qualification can only be taken in PMI Approved Centres.

Workplace Pensions Trailblazer Apprenticeship

This qualification can be used as part of the Workplace Pensions Trailblazer Apprenticeship. Amongst the many benefits of the apprenticeship is the opportunity to access Government funding to cover the cost of the qualifications and any associated training.  Further details on the apprenticeship can be found here

Qualification Content

To complete this qualification ten units must be completed out of  eighteen possible options. 


The content of the units is designed to be delivered as an in-house prepared training session which is followed through with an in-house prepared set of questions based on the learning outcomes listed at the end of the unit. This end of unit test is marked in-house with the pass mark being determined in-house.

PMI Membership

On completion of this qualification individuals can apply for certificate level of membership of PMI and have the designatory initals CertPMI after their name. Click here for further details.
