The PMI Trustee Group is dedicated to supporting individual trustees and trustee boards. The NEW Trustee Group CPD scheme has been introduced to recognise and reward ‘Blue Riband’ trustee boards without the addition of more red tape! Current members are drawn from over 100 UK pension schemes.

Awards in Pension Trusteeships examinations

The Awards in Pension Trusteeship (APT) examinations are two qualifications for trustees, or those interested in trusteeship, based on the Pensions Regulator’s indicative syllabus. They provide formal recognition of a trustee’s knowledge and understanding (TKU) in line with the requirements of the Pensions Act 2004.

We run a PMI Trustee Group Seminar twice a year in June and November, these events help trustees to focus on areas of risk and provide them with the information and guidance they need to ensure that their company’s scheme is running effectively.

Association of Professional Pension Trustees

The aims of this group are to encourage and promote the highest professional standards in those who practise as professional pension trustees and promote the role of professional trustees.

Apprenticeships are central to raising skills in the UK. As part of recent reforms to Apprenticeships, the Government has set up a number of Trailblazer projects to design the new Apprenticeship Standards. The aim of the new Standards is to put employers genuinely in the driving seat of creating Apprenticeships, simplify their development and ensure that they are more rigorous and responsive to the needs of employers. The changes that will be implemented through the Trailblazers will fundamentally change the relationship between employers, the government and those who educate and train apprentices.

A group of employers, led by Towers Watson together with Aon, B&CE, Barnett Waddingham, Buck Consultants, Equiniti, Hymans Robertson, JLT, Lane, Clark & Peacock, Mercer, RPMI and West Yorkshire Pension Fund; supported by the Pensions Management Institute, have developed a new Workplace Pensions Trailblazer Apprenticeship, which gained ministerial approval in March. PMI Accreditation provides formal independent recognition of high quality programmes and their contribution to the professional development needs of those participating in them. Programmes can include a wide variety of training, development and learning programmes, materials and courses. They may be discrete, unique events or regular sessions, online learning programmes or web based video, internal or commercially focussed.  Since PMI Accreditation has been launched we have accredited a wide range of programmes and details can be found here.
