Maintaining standards. Supporting your development. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • Recording your CPD

    Members are expected to record CPD activity using the Institute’s member portal.

    In exceptional circumstances, alternative submission methods may be used with prior agreement. You may also record CPD completed through another recognised professional body, provided that:

    • the scheme is equivalent to the Institute’s requirements;
    • and evidence of completion is submitted each year
  • CPD year and reporting

    The CPD year runs from 1 January to 31 December. You are required to:

    • Complete your CPD within the calendar year
    • Submit your record and supporting evidence by 31 January of the following year
  • Meeting the requirements

    Members who meet the CPD requirements will receive confirmation of completion or a certificate on request.

    Where requirements are not met, members will be contacted and supported to address any shortfall. Continued non‑compliance may result in further action in line with the Institute’s regulations.

  • Supporting your development

    The CPD scheme provides a structured framework while allowing flexibility in how you meet your requirements.

    Through a combination of formal learning, professional activity and self-directed development, you are able to maintain your knowledge, strengthen your capability and support your ongoing professional standing.
