As a member, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) supports you in maintaining your professional knowledge and developing your capability in line with industry expectations. Aligned to the requirements of the Project Management Institute (PMI), CPD provides a structured approach to ensuring that your skills remain current and applicable, while enabling you to maintain your professional certification.

All Fellows and Associates are required to participate in the CPD scheme, with retired or non‑working members able to take part on a voluntary basis. Participation demonstrates your ongoing commitment to professional development and supports the maintenance of high standards across the profession.
Supporting you to develop, maintain and progress CPD requirements
Members participating in the scheme are required to:
- Complete a minimum of 25 hours of relevant CPD each year
- Ensure that at least 50% of CPD is focused on pensions and related matters such as pensions, investments and employee benefits
- Meet the minimum requirement regardless of working pattern or employment status
Where CPD is undertaken through another professional body, it must be of an equivalent standard. Any shortfall must be made up and supported with appropriate evidence.
Keeping your knowledge current What counts as CPD
CPD activities should be relevant to your professional role and contribute to your development.
Eligible activities may include:
- Attending seminars, conferences and industry events
- Completing training courses and formal learning
- Participating in committees or professional groups
- Delivering presentations, workshops or webinars
- Writing articles or contributing to professional publications
- Mentoring or supporting other professionals
- Undertaking research, reading or informal study
Activities should have a clear learning objective and outcome, and be capable of independent verification.
What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD), refers to the ongoing learning and development activities that our professional members engage in to enhance their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. We offer a variety of different services which count as CPD such as in- person events, reading materials including a bi-monthly magazine and more.

Yes. We help members track and manage their CPD to stay current and compliant. Depending on your membership type, you will be expected
How many CPD points can I claim per event?
You can claim up to 7 CPD hours for all full day PMI conferences.

How many CPD hours will I earn with PMI qualifications?
You can earn up to 15 CPD hours per year through a variety of professional activities:

Exam Setting and Marking – Setting, marking, or assessing pensions-specific or business-related exams, including PMI qualifications, qualifies for up to 15 CPD hours annually.

Delivering Courses and Workshops – Leading presentations, workshops, seminars, or webinars on relevant topics also counts for up to 15 CPD hours per year. Preparation and research for these events are included, but commercial courses do not qualify.

Further Education – Completing training courses or learning programmes for postgraduate or equivalent qualifications, including online options, allows up to 15 CPD hours annually.

Many PMI events provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, which contribute towards your annual CPD requirements.
