PMI welcomes reappointment of Torsten Bell MP as Pensions Minister
The Pensions Management Institute has congratulated Torsten Bell MP on his reappointment as Pensions Minister.
In a joint letter to Mr Bell, CEO Gareth Tancred and Chair Ruston Smith said they strongly welcome this continuity of leadership which comes at a crucial time for the pensions sector and the wider economy.
They said the government, working hand in hand with the pensions industry, can and must place simplicity, stability and savers at the heart of a collaborative approach to pensions and lifetime savings and added that at a time of economic uncertainty, people need a system they can understand and trust.
Stability in pensions policy, tax rules and long‑term commitments is essential for savers, employers and schemes to plan confidently.
Gareth Tancred said:
“The Minister's reappointment provides vital continuity at a time when the government must place simplicity, stability and savers at the heart of pensions policy. The PMI stands ready to work collaboratively to help deliver a system that drives confidence, fairness and long-term value for members and employers alike.”
"Through our initiatives and industry-leading education programme, the PMI will continue to champion and support professional standards and evidence‑based policy, ensuring that the voices of pension professionals and members are heard in shaping the next phase of pensions development."
