Statement welcoming PASA Career Development Toolkit

The PMI has welcomed PASA's new Career Development Toolkit which provides practical resources to help individuals, managers and employers support career progression and raise professional standards across pensions administration.

Vanessa Jackon, Chief Learning Officer at the PMI, said: “I’m delighted to welcome the launch of PASA’s Career Development Toolkit. It is a valuable initiative that addresses an important need across pensions administration: helping people understand the opportunities available to them, identify the skills they need and navigate their career development with greater confidence.

“Having been involved in developing the toolkit as a member of PASA’s Administration Careers & Development Working Group, it has been a pleasure to contribute to something so practical and relevant to the profession.

“What particularly stands out is its flexibility. The resources can be used by individuals taking ownership of their own development, managers looking to support their teams, and employers wanting to introduce a more structured approach to career progression. The Professionalism and Behaviours Framework is particularly useful in helping people understand the skills and behaviours expected at different stages of their careers.

“At the PMI, we share the ambition to help people develop fulfilling careers while raising standards across the pensions profession. Education, professional development and a strong sense of community all have an important role to play in achieving that.

“Ultimately, investing in the knowledge, skills and confidence of the people working in pensions administration benefits the whole industry – and, most importantly, the pension savers who depend on it.”

Last month, the PMI unveiled a new evidence-based qualification to recognise the vital importance of experienced pensions administration professionals in driving better outcomes for savers.

The Level 5 Experienced Pensions Professional Certificate (EPPC) acknowledges the role administration plays in delivering high-quality pensions, and aims to raise professional standards across the industry.
