The defined contribution (DC) pensions landscape is evolving rapidly. Initiatives such as Targeted Support, pensions dashboards and the Pensions Scheme Bill, including the introduction of guided retirement options, will re-shape how DC schemes support members throughout their retirement journey.

Investment innovation can play a vital role in strengthening resilience and improving member outcomes. This may include diversifying into private markets, embedding sustainability more effectively, developing clearer default retirement pathways, or using new technology and AI to support decision-making.

For trustees, the challenge is how to adopt new investment solutions without creating unnecessary operational complexity or adding to governance burden. This roundtable looks at where innovation genuinely adds value, and how DC strategies can be future-proofed while remaining simple, practical and robust.
