Delivering pensions in a digital world

This session will discuss the future of digital provision in the pensions industry, opening with the immediate future and the Pensions Dashboards Programme, it’s delivery, and its impact for schemes, trustees and members.

Looking to the medium term we’ll review the push to automate the administration of pension schemes, the issues preventing this, and the costs and benefits of this work. Further ahead we’ll consider what technological advancements can bring to the administration of pension schemes, what is driving the adoption of new technology and who these developments are likely to benefit.

Throughout, we’ll consider where the member sits within the journey to a digital future, what may prevent online provision from being a success for members, trustees and administrators.

Daniel Heaton
Daniel Heaton
Barnett Waddingham
- Senior Client Relationship Manager

Daniel is a Senior Client Relationship Manager for a selection of administration only clients each with between 2,000 and 5,000 members.

This involves working with the day to day administration teams for each client to ensure each set of members and trustees receive the service they expect, that their priorities are managed and their scheme goals are achieved.

He provides expertise and support to our local Defined Contribution (DC) schemes and projects teams based on his experience of both administering DC schemes and completing complex data and benefit based project work for clients. This project work includes GMP reconciliation, data audit and cleansing ahead of bulk annuity transactions and the bulk calculation of benefits and historic data.

As part of this he has assisted in developing the firm’s approach to reporting on the quality of scheme data to trustees as part of The Pensions Regulator’s record keeping initiative.

Suzi Lowther
Suzi Lowther
Vidett
- Director of Marketing & Communications

Suzi started her career advising trustees and employers on DB and DC pensions and broader employee benefits. She qualified as an actuary, but quickly realised she would not follow the traditional actuarial career path.

Having helped Hazell Carr establish a new pensions consultancy and Punter Southall a marketing team, Suzi then led marketing and communications for Hargreaves Lansdown Corporate Solutions. She managed a team of 30 delivering communications and financial education through a mix of digital, face-to-face and hard copy channels, dovetailing this with HL’s multi-purpose financial platform.

In 2010, she founded a specialist communications consultancy, helping employers and pension schemes develop effective communication strategies. She also helped financial industry firms develop pension/benefits propositions and platforms incorporating member engagement. She was one of the first to introduce nudge communications into UK pensions.

At Vidett, Suzi’s responsibilities include the development of communication strategies and creation of bespoke communications for pension scheme clients, focusing on efficiency and effectiveness.
