This session will explore how the pensions sector is working together to shape qualifications that meet today’s regulatory requirements, changing trustee responsibilities, and workforce development priorities. Working collaboratively, we will examine how the PMI and industry stakeholders are aligning on qualification design, delivery models and curriculum development to ensure relevance and rigour across the sector.

With a focus on building capability rather than endorsing any single approach, the panel will share practical insights from current work across education, administration and governance, all with the goal of creating qualifications that support pension and trustee organisations today and into the future.

This session offers a taster of the PMI Endgame Solutions event in London on 17th September, providing key insights tailored specifically for smaller schemes. In recent years, the dominance of the U.S. dollar in global currency reserves has been in decline, and the price of gold has surged to unprecedented levels, currently topping $3,000 per ounce. This dramatic shift raises critical questions for pension schemes: What is the future of safe haven assets, and how can schemes incorporate them into their investment strategies to diversify and better manage risk?

This session will explore the changing landscape of global reserves, focusing on the rise of gold and other alternative safe haven assets. Experts will discuss how these developments could offer pension schemes valuable opportunities for diversification, inflation protection, and stability in uncertain times. We’ll examine the practicalities of integrating gold into a portfolio, alongside other potential safe havens, and how these assets might align with long-term pension goals.

You'll hear about how this innovative index has been designed, with the support of several global pension funds, and how it aims to drive investment to reduce real-economy emissions.

- President

Robert has worked in the pensions industry for over 30 years, primarily in pensions management and pensions administration. He believes that everything we should be doing should be linked to member understanding and best outcomes for members.
Robert has recently moved away from direct pensions administration and will be taking up a senior role with The Tracing Group. With so many people having been lost along the way and not aware of all their benefits both within the pensions market and the wider financial services markets, he is looking to help reconnect those people entitled to these benefits.
