Andy graduated from Durham University with a first class degree in law. He joined Burges Salmon as a trainee and qualified into the pensions team in 2011. Andy is dual qualified in England and Wales and Northern Ireland.
Andy advises pension trustees and employers on a broad range of pensions issues, providing advice on legislation and the interpretation of deeds and rules along with all aspects of the day to day running of defined benefit, defined contribution and hybrid pension schemes including member communications, drafting deeds, trustee training, IDRP and Pensions Ombudsman cases. His experience covers projects such as benefit changes, valuation negotiations, liability management, closures, bulk transfers, mergers and buy-ins/outs.
Andy advises trustees in relation to scheme governance and compliance issues including reviewing and negotiating contracts, data protection compliance, cyber security and compliance with TPR codes of practice.
Jo has more than 23 years’ experience in the pensions industry with a focus on administration, systems and data. She has a working knowledge of both public and private sectors schemes of all sizes.
Jo has extensive experience of leading large-scale pensions projects including GMP Rectification and Equalisation, and other strategic projects often delivered in challenging or complex environments, such as time constrained delivery or involving multiparty solutions. She has in-depth knowledge of the data challenges posed by complex pensions projects and the range of solutions available to Trustees to optimise the member experience.
She is the product owner for the Pensions Dashboard programme at Capita delivering to over 200 of their administration clients.
John P Doherty is a Fellow of the PMI and is a Senior Consultant at XPS Pensions Group in Edinburgh.
John has 36 years’ experience of working in the pensions industry. He is a member of the XPS Administration Services Group, a central team that assesses the impact of legislative change which may impact clients and administration processes. John is also a member of the XPS internal Dashboard Working Group and GMP Settlement Team. John has been involved in the PDP Working Group since its inception and has been a member of PASA GMPEWG Administration sub-group.
