Agenda

We will kick off the event with a welcome address, emphasising the importance of pensions professionals connecting, sharing insights, and collaborating to drive the industry forward.

As the government sets out a pensions reform agenda, hear from the Pensions Regulator’s CEO Nausicaa Delfas about how TPR sees the pensions landscape evolving and what the Regulator will be doing to raise standards of trusteeship, drive value for money and help make sure that pensions work for everyone.

We are currently living through unprecedented levels of global volatility and yet UK portfolios, invested globally, don't pay much attention to the fact that they typically see between 20% and 40% of their annual risk “budget” being consumed by foreign exchange volatility. This session explores current market views and case studies to demonstrate the significant impact of FX risk on overseas investments over the last 20 years, and identify methods to transform this risk into potential profit opportunities that can be used to improve cashflow, and improve outcomes for savers.

The Government has bold ambitions for the financial services sector and the role that major financial institutions should play in driving outcomes for savers and UK growth. Hear from the City Minister give the wider Government perspective on financial services policy and regulation as well as the role pension funds can play in the financial services sector and as investors in the wider UK economy.

Data quality is the biggest roadblock to securing a bulk annuity deal. Poor data leads to delays, increased costs, and missed opportunities. During this session, we will discuss how to help schemes navigate this complex process efficiently, ensuring that data preparation becomes a strategic enabler for successful buy-in and buy-out deals, rather than a hurdle.

Ensuring UK savers have the knowledge and support they need to make informed financial decisions is more critical than ever. This session will explore the evolving landscape of financial literacy, advice, and guidance, highlighting the role of policymakers, educators, and financial service providers in improving retirement outcomes.

Dr Quigley will share three pilot projects (two of which are becoming financial products) that have grown out of the University of Cambridge's unique evidence-based approach to responsible investment.

Research shows that nearly a third* of Defined Benefit (DB) pension schemes do not have a clear endgame strategy in place. But what are the considerations that trustees should think about when weighing up whether to continue running on their DB scheme or opting for insurance?
Join us as we explore the different factors that trustees should be considering when preparing for endgame.

As the UK moves to a future of fewer, larger, 'mega' schemes we want to explore the benefits and challenges of operating schemes that not only impact on the outcomes of millions of savers, and will move markets. This session brings together three distinguished CEOs of major international pension funds to share their first-hand experiences in operating schemes at scale.

Investment in private markets is set to rise, as capital allocators are pressed to achieve higher potential risk-adjusted returns, access a broader range of alternative asset classes, while supporting UK economic growth. With a growing range of structures available that provide exposure to private assets and positive pension industry reform, UK pension funds are well positioned to capitalise on new investment opportunities.

Pensions administration is moving to the forefront of pensions delivery. The increasing pace of new regulation, an ageing population and changing consumer expectations are only some of the reasons administrators are having to up their game. In this session Gareth Tancred, PMI CEO and Malcolm Reynolds President, UK and Portugal, Aptia talk about the importance of learning and development in the pensions sector and the work that Aptia and the PMI are doing together to raise standards.

Join us for an exclusive fireside chat with Michelle Ostermann, CEO of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF), and Kate Jones, Chair of the PPF, as they share their perspectives on the evolving UK pensions landscape. In this engaging conversation, they will discuss where the industry stands today and can be further strengthened, the impact it has protecting members, and the PPF’s strategic vision for the future. With their leadership perspective, this session will offer a dynamic discussion on key challenges, opportunities, and the PPF’s role in shaping the future of pensions.

Jo Salter MBE brings a unique perspective on leadership, risk management, and resilience - qualities that resonate deeply with those guiding the future of pensions. As Britain’s first female fast jet pilot, Jo mastered high-stakes decision-making under extreme pressure, a skillset she later applied as a business leader at PwC and as a trustee at the RAF Club. Her keynote will explore the human side of long-term planning, drawing parallels between aviation, corporate governance, and pensions. With a focus on sound judgment in uncertainty, Jo will share insights on navigating complexity, adapting to change, and building trust - essential traits for pension professionals shaping the financial security of millions.
