Shaping Pensions on the Day of Reform

On the very day the Pension Schemes Bill is Introduced into Parliament, the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) will convene the industry’s most influential voices for its most compelling Annual Conference to date.

This landmark Annual Conference event features an unparalleled line-up of speakers, including:

  • Nausicaa Delfas, CEO of The Pensions Regulator
  • Michelle Ostermann and Kate Jones, PPF
  • Thomas Markland, Pensions Investment Review, HMT
  • Geoffrey Rubin, Chief Investment Strategist, Canadian Pension Plan
  • Carl Astorri, Head of Investments Europe, AustralianSuper
  • Dr Jo Salter, Britain’s first female fast jet pilot, business leader, and trustee

Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, and dynamic networking sessions, over 200 attendees will engage with the biggest questions shaping the future of pensions:

  • The UK government's ambitions for financial services
  • The impact of pension reforms on scheme design and governance
  • Strategies for member engagement and risk management
  • Global insights and lessons from leading international pension systems

PMI CEO Gareth Tancred commented: "With the introduction of the Pension Schemes Bill, this year's Annual Conference arrives at a critical juncture for our industry. The PMI is not only convening the key voices shaping pensions policy but is also actively working to ensure the sector has the skills, expertise, and leadership it needs for the future. By strengthening professional development, evolving our qualifications, and driving high-quality standards, the PMI is helping trustees, scheme managers, and administrators meet the challenges ahead with confidence."

In response to the increasing complexity and pace of change in the pensions sector, the PMI is evolving its offering to support professionals worldwide. We are deepening our engagement with government and regulators to raise standards, establishing new benchmarks, and ensuring the relevance of our qualifications. Initiatives such as the Trustee Special Interest Group (SIG) and the newly launched Student SIG demonstrate our commitment to providing members with opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

As the PMI approaches its 50th anniversary next year, our focus remains on establishing and expanding the PMI Academy, strengthening pathways into the industry, and ensuring pensions become a career of choice rather than a career of chance.
