The PMI and Towers Watson joined forces to ascertain, through research, what members need from pensions websites to enable them to make better choices in planning for retirement. The survey identified the key functions and features required, together with the degree of interaction and communication style which will collectively help members to realise the benefits of such websites and to make better, more informed choices about their retirement plans.
To date, pensions websites have evolved based on the relative limitations of the underlying technology - research based on the members' perspective is not universally available but as current and future generations increasingly rely on the Internet as a source of information it becomes ever more important for the industry to build and develop websites which meet members' needs.
